Residents, families, friends and local communities came together across Rotherwood Healthcare this July as our homes hosted a series of Summer Garden Parties in support of their chosen charities.
From live entertainment and delicious food to games, raffles and family activities, each event brought people together to enjoy the summer while raising money for charities that make a real difference across Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. More importantly, they gave residents the opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones and to welcome visitors into their homes.
Each home celebrated in its own unique way:
- Colwall Care Home, near Malvern, welcomed guests for a sunny afternoon featuring a BBQ, live music, a raffle and a surprise visit from the M&M Ice Cream Van, all in support of Colwall Community Church.
- Roden Hall, in Shrewsbury, hosted a vibrant Tiki-themed Summer Fete in support of Hope House Children's Hospices, welcoming more than 100 visitors. Guests enjoyed craft stalls, games, animal encounters, live music and entertainment while celebrating alongside residents.
- St George's Park, in Telford, brought residents and families together for an afternoon of games, live entertainment, homemade cakes, a BBQ and an ice cream van, raising more than £400 for Home-Start Telford & Wrekin, the home's chosen charity.
- Lynhales Hall, near Lyonshall in Herefordshire, welcomed families and members of the local community for a traditional Summer Fete featuring classic vehicles, local craft stalls, games, live entertainment and plenty of delicious food, all in support of Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre (HVSC).
- Dorset House, in Droitwich Spa, hosted a relaxing garden party with music, refreshments and entertainment throughout the afternoon. The event also welcomed the Mayor of Droitwich Spa while raising funds for Acorns Children's Hospice.
- Hampton Grange and Gwen Walford, in Hereford, welcomed around 150 residents, relatives, friends and team members to a Summer Fun Day in support of St Michael's Hospice. Guests enjoyed a summer BBQ, live music, sporting games, locally made ice cream and fresh strawberries. At the same time, children, grandchildren and residents came together for egg and spoon races and musical chairs, helping raise £300 for the charity.
Beyond raising valuable funds for local charities, the Summer Garden Parties showcased the warm, welcoming communities found across our homes every day. Residents enjoyed memorable experiences with family and friends, while local businesses, entertainers and volunteers helped make each event a wonderful success.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered or helped organise the events. We'd also like to thank the local entertainers, businesses and community groups whose generosity helped make each Summer Garden Party so special.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back to our care homes across Herefordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire for many more community events in the future.
