Learn some more about what St George's Park has on offer, including the homely, yet practical, bedrooms, the sociable communal spaces and landscaped gardens.
We understand that dementia affects everyone differently, some residents remain independent, while others need significant support. At St George's Park, we have invested in staff training that goes beyond basic dementia understanding.
Our team understands why certain situations trigger distress, how the environment shapes behaviour and how personalised routines create safety. Instead of just medicating the behaviour, we change our environment and adjust our approach to prevent the distress from occurring.
Often, residents have other health conditions alongside their dementia or mental health challenges. Our nurses can manage medications, coordinate with GPs, monitor health changes and respond to medical crises. Our nursing expertise works with our dementia, complex and mental health support.
We believe that good nursing care is informed and tailored. Nurses who don't understand dementia can't deliver good dementia care and nurses who are unfamiliar with mental health challenges in older adults will struggle to recognise when psychological support is needed rather than medication escalation. That's we have prioritised giving our team the training necessary to recognise these behaviours and care for our residents accordingly.
Often, residents have more than one care need that other homes may struggle to manage. These can be severe physical health conditions, unpredictable behaviour or mobility challenges.
At St George's Park, we have the experience and trained staff to manage complex needs differently. We understand that through routine adjustment, therapeutic support and environmental modification, we can support the individual.
Mental health conditions in older adults are often overlooked or assigned to dementia, when they are actually treatable psychological issues. Mental health struggles don't just disappear with age, but they usually become more complex and go unrecognised.
St George's Park supports residents with mental health challenges. Our expert team identifies and responds appropriately to both mental distress and dementia-related behaviours. We offer a calming environment valuing psychological and physical wellbeing.
Our care combines clinical oversight with compassionate, person-centred support.
Some residents arrive at St George's Park at the end of life, while others come to this stage over time. When a condition becomes terminal, whether from dementia or complex illness, our focus shifts to comfort and connection.
We work closely with families to understand what matters most, whether that's ensuring meaningful time or peaceful connection. Our calm, supportive setting becomes a sanctuary where loved ones can be together and say goodbye.
A space built for dementia isn't just about safety. It is about dignity, normalcy, independence and supporting people to stay engaged with life despite the disease's progression.
Our two dedicated floors enable residents to move and access activities in our building designed for their needs. This reduces confusion and supports independence, whilst creating a setting where residents can be themselves without the stress of navigating unknown spaces.
Feeling looked after goes further than nutrition and medicine. A fresh haircut and clean nails can change the way you feel. Our on-site salon offers these services in a calm setting. Whether you want a routine haircut or an updo for a special occasion, our salon can provide that.
Entertainment can be therapeutic for individuals with dementia. It offers the structure to the day that many people need as well as giving the brain something familiar to engage with.
We have created a spacious communal area that feels warm and comfortable. This is the heart of our home for meaningful gatherings, connections or memorable moments.

At St George's Park, we offer specialist dementia care in our two-floor nursing home. Our staff receive specialist training focused on dementia. Every single space and routine in our home is built around how dementia affects people.
We aren't just fitting dementia residents into a standard nursing home, we have designed the home around their needs. We are also proud to be recognised for our commitment to dementia care by becoming finalists at the National Dementia Care Awards 2023 and 2024.
Sometimes, families are coming to us after other nursing homes have said no. The phrase we can care for those who are difficult to place means that we have the experience and staff to support these individuals to thrive in our intentionally designed environment.
It doesn't mean that we accept everyone but it does mean that we look beyond the surface of the individual to understand what is needed and whether we can safely provide it.
Communication is so important and at St George's Park we understand that regularly hearing from your loved one is vital. We understand that moving into a nursing home isn't easy and we are committed to regular, transparent communication about how your loved one is getting on and any changes.
This isn't just a checkbox for us; this is part of our committed support to residents and families.
No, if your loved one's dementia becomes more advanced they won't have to move to a different nursing home. St George's Park is equipped to support dementia across all stages. If care needs change, we adapt their support plan without moving them.
For individuals with dementia, continuity and familiarity is vital for their wellbeing. Staying in one place while we adjust their care is a real advantage.
St George's Park Care Home offers a variety of fabulous facilities to support our residents' busy and rich lifestyles.
