This October, residents, families, team members and local communities across Rotherwood Healthcare shared a day filled with familiar songs, new experiences and moments to treasure, with the Rotherwood Song performed at every home as a special part of the celebrations.
Celebrating National Singing Day and Dignity in Dance Month, every home put its own spin on Rotherwood Music Day, showing just how much joy music can bring, the memories it can spark and the connections it can create.
Bringing Music to Life
At Lynhales Hall, the team brought Stars in Their Eyes to life, with residents, loved ones and members of the local veterans’ community enjoying performances inspired by favourite musical artists. Newlyweds Fran and Roger even shared a song close to their hearts.
Kington Court embraced a country and western theme, complete with a homemade music-themed cake, while Hampton Grange and Gwen Walford brought Bollywood to Hereford with colourful outfits, dancing and an Indian-inspired feast.
At Colwall Care Home, residents enjoyed performances from the Dolloway Dancers and singer Ray Mytton, alongside music-themed cakes and fundraising for Colwall Community Church.
Roden Hall stepped back into the 1920s with a jazz bar-inspired celebration, feathered accessories and much-loved singalongs. Residents also enjoyed a special performance of the Rotherwood song, accompanied by John on piano.
Over at St George’s Park, saxophonist Mike and Tanglewood entertained residents from Oak and Acorn, creating opportunities to enjoy music together and share in the moment.
At Dorset House, an Indian-inspired celebration brought colour and dancing to the home. Residents were joined by local singing group The Fossils, who performed the Rotherwood song alongside them, while the Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Councillor Sue Brazier, helped serve refreshments.
The Moments That Matter
From singing favourite songs to trying new dances, each celebration was a reminder that music is about so much more than the notes. It can unlock memories, express feelings and create connections that words sometimes cannot, particularly for people living with dementia.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Rotherwood Music Day so special, from our residents and families to our team members, entertainers and local communities.
Together, we created moments worth remembering.
