Hampton and Gwen Plant Tree for the Queen's Green Canopy

Hampton Grange and Gwen Walford Nursing Home have held a tree planting ceremony to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

The ceremony took place on 10th June and united residents, families, and staff to honour the Queen’s reign and paid homage to ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ initiative which encourages communities to plant trees to create a lasting environmental legacy.

Excited residents, families and staff congregated out in the front garden ahead of the ceremony taking place mid-morning. Residents at the home, many of whom are keen Royalists, watched as resident Dorothy and Home Manager, Louise Craddock, planted the tree before unveiling a ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ plaque to commemorate the happy occasion. Before long the congregation retuned inside for morning tea.

Louise Craddock, the Home Manager, said:
“Our residents adore the Queen and were only too happy to plant a tree to celebrate her long reign. We've planted the tree in the front garden so it is accessible for all our residents who will be nurturing the tree over the coming months and remembering the fantastic events we have had over the last week to celebrate the Jubilee".
