Hampton Resident Celebrates 100 Year Milestone

Celebrate Dorothy Timmins' 100th birthday at Hampton Grange Nursing Home. From farming roots to rally car navigator, her journey inspires. Read more.

Born in Warwickshire in 1922, Dorothy was a farmer’s daughter who spent her childhood playing amongst the fields and going on long country walks. Inspired by her rural upbringing, Dorothy went on to become a Minister of Agriculture, working on a milk marketing board as a milk tester, as well as having an exciting career as a rally car navigator. Living in Somerset, Staffordshire and Hereford, Dorothy raised two children before welcoming two grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hampton Grange marked Dorothy’s 100-year milestone with a balloon-filled celebration attended by her daughter and friend. Dorothy’s granddaughter visited in the morning, bringing with her a delicious lemon birthday cake, while her son visited in the lead up to the special day. Dorothy proudly received a card from The Queen, which she has not stopped talking about since, as well as beautiful bouquet from her family. Reflecting on her life, Dorothy said “the secret to long life is being determined to just keep on going!”

Lifestyle Coordinator Nicky, said:
“We pulled off a fantastic celebration for Dorothy’s 100th birthday. It was great to bring together Dorothy’s family, friends, and carers here at Hampton to honour her remarkable 100 years. Dorothy is a much-loved member of the Hampton and Gwen family, and we hope she had a happy birthday she truly deserves!”
