Roden Hall Hosts Afternoon Tea to Support Breast Cancer Now

Roden Hall Care Home, set in the picturesque Shropshire countryside, welcomed residents, families and friends for an afternoon tea event in association with Afternoon Tea Week. The gathering took place on 11th August from 2pm, raising funds for the renowned charity, Breast Cancer Now.

Running from 7th-13th August, Afternoon Tea Week is a celebration of the quintessentially British tradition, while Breast Cancer Now is a dedicated charity conducting ground-breaking research and providing transformative care for those affected by breast cancer. The home’s event was a heartfelt initiative aimed to contribute to the charity’s noble cause whilst creating precious moments and lasting memories for residents within the care home.

The at-home café, Berrington’s Café, served as the perfect backdrop to the occasion. There was cheerful chatter amongst the nineteen residents who attended alongside their families and friends who gathered to enjoy an array of delicious treats, including sandwiches, sausage rolls and cakes.

The decorations were thoughtfully supplied by Breast Cancer Now, including bunting, coasters, posters, badges, information leaflets and collection pots. These served as a visual reminder of the purpose behind the event: to raise awareness and funds for a cause very close to the hearts of many.

Karen Robinson, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Roden Hall, commented:
“The event was a tremendous success, raising over £125 for Breast Cancer Now. This remarkable feat was made possible by the collective efforts of residents, staff, families, and friends, uniting to contribute to the ongoing fight against breast cancer. A highlight of the afternoon was the ‘world’s best brownies’ according to our residents, diligently baked by our Lifestyle Assistant, Mia. Thank you to all those for attending”.
