Residents at Dorset House Care Home were delighted to welcome the new Mayor of Droitwich Spa, Sue Brazier, for a special afternoon of conversation, games and homemade sweet treats.
Mayor Brazier spent time talking with residents and team members, learning more about life at Dorset House and hearing first-hand about the friendships, activities and experiences that make the home such a special place to live.
The afternoon was filled with smiles as residents introduced the Mayor on of their favourite card games, with plenty of friendly competition and laughter along the way. Conversations continued over a homemade afternoon tea, where everyone enjoyed Vietnamese swirls, chocolate chip cake, and Bakewell tarts freshly prepared by the Dorset House kitchen team.
To mark the occasion, residents presented Sue with flowers and congratulated her on her new role as Mayor. As a long-standing friend and supporter of Dorser House, her visit was particularly meaningful and provided a wonderful opportunity for residents to reconnect with a familiar face.
Karen Johnson, Home Manager at Dorset House, said:
"Visits like this mean so much to our residents. Having the opportunity to spend time with local community figures, share experiences and build meaningful connections helps residents remain engaged with the world around them. We are incredibly grateful to Sue for taking the time to visit and look forward to continuing our long-standing relationship with her during her year as Mayor.”
At Dorset House, staying connected to the local community is an important part of everyday life. Whether welcoming visitors into the home, celebrating special occasions or creating opportunities for residents to share their stories, these moments help make life at Dorset House rich, purposeful and full of connection.
