After 19 years of being engaged, Fran and Roger finally said ‘I do’ at Lynhales Hall, surrounded by their friends, family and the team who had supported them through a remarkable chapter in their lives.

Fran and Roger first met at a Bonfire Night celebration in Droitwich in 2002. Five years later, Roger proposed to Fran in 2007 with the permission of her father. The couple have been engaged ever since, always intending to get married but never quite finding the right time.

After living in Droitwich, Fran and Roger went on to make their home together in Eardisley, where they have lived for 11 years. Throughout their time together, they have shared a life filled with memories, while always holding onto their plans to one day get married.

Earlier this year, Fran came to Lynhales Hall for palliative care following a period of poor health and was told she might only have a few weeks left. After receiving care and support from the team, Fran made a remarkable recovery and is now thriving at Lynhales Hall. With her health improving, the couple decided that the time was finally right to say ‘I do’.

On 22nd September, Fran and Roger celebrated their wedding surrounded by their friends and family, with members of the Lynhales Hall team there to share the occasion with them. Fran’s brother and sister-in-law, Julia and Philip, also witnessed the signing.

For Fran, one of the most meaningful moments was exchanging vows with Roger in front of the people closest to them.

Fran said: “My special moment was when Roger and I made our vows together having our friends and family present along with all of the amazing staff that made our day so special.”
The day also included some personal touches that made the celebration theirs. Fran designed their beautiful wedding cake, which was made by Lizzie, Sous Chef, while Paula, Head Chef, prepared the wedding buffet. Their favourite songs played in the background as they celebrated together.

Fran added: “We had such a beautiful wedding cake, perfect food and drinks and of course our favourite songs being played in the background. It was a very special day.”

For Roger, seeing Fran arrive for the wedding was an emotional moment. He recalls how beautiful and well she looked, making it a moment that stayed with him throughout the day.

Roger said: “I’m just so pleased it all went so well on the day and thank you all for all your help and making it such a special day.”

Anne-Marie Duggan, Home Manager at Lynhales Hall, said: “It was such a privilege to be part of Fran and Roger’s wedding. Seeing them celebrate surrounded by their loved ones was wonderful, and we were delighted to be able to share such an important moment with them.”

After 19 years of being engaged, Fran and Roger can now look forward to continuing their life together as husband and wife, with hopes of returning to their home in Eardisley once the refurbishments are complete.

For Fran and Roger, their wedding day marked the beginning of a new chapter together, surrounded by the people who mean the most to them.
