Research shows that connecting younger and older people is of mutual benefit. Whilst the residents boost their mood from interacting with the children, younger people learn care and empathy towards the older generation.
During National Storytelling Week, the residents read books to the children and, more recently, they are teaming together to craft a giant daffodil for the Marie Curie Great Daffodil Appeal.
Lisa Davies, the Lifestyle Coordinator at Dorset House, said:
“These children bring joy and happiness to our residents’ lives. We look forward to our morning with the children every week.”
