All have en-suite wet rooms, but for residents who require further support, there’s also easy access to assisted bathrooms. The atmosphere inside Gwen Walford House is warm and welcoming, with a comforting mix of treasured possessions and new, high-quality furnishings and fittings, making it feel like a real home-from-home.

In uncertain times it’s good to know that friends and family can still come to us and spend quality time with their loved ones. At Gwen Walford we have built a visiting pod, which provides a safe visiting space to make sure that nothing stands in the way of continuing those most precious of times.

The Lounge at Gwen Walford is certainly the social hub of the home. Choice is important to our residents and, whilst sometimes they may wish to relax in their own rooms, they like to have the option of this welcoming, social space to participate in activities or ‘catch-up’ with friends.

Our residents are a stylish and rather particular bunch. They know exactly what they like to wear, and always like to look their best, and that’s why the hair salon at Gwen Walford is such a popular venue.

The dedicated Lifestyle Coordinators at Gwen Walford like to provide as much variety as possible when it comes to activities and entertainment. As well as ensuring that they cater for existing hobbies and interests, they organise a whole array of inclusive and inviting sessions, including lunch club, pamper days, indoor skittles and cookery club. Whilst everyone certainly makes the most of their indoor time, the enthusiastic team are also always available to assist residents to take a stroll outdoors in the gardens, or even to take the home’s minibus out for a visit to the garden centre for a spot of shopping. Maintaining community links is an important part of life at Gwen Walford and residents, staff, family and friends regularly participate in many local celebrations and charity events.
Dining at Gwen Walford House is very much a tailor-made experience. Residents are given the freedom to choose how, where and when they would like to eat to ensure that mealtimes are as pleasurable as possible, even when medical conditions have to be taken into consideration. If residents choose to remain in their own room, join friends and family in the dining room or even eat ‘on the move’, then it can be catered for. Whatever the individual wants and needs, staff make sure that they get a tempting, nutritional meal. Even where smaller portions are necessary, they are fortified to ensure no goodness is lost – a hugely important detail.
