Roden Hall Plants Tree to Honour the Queen

Roden Hall Care Home held a tree planting ceremony to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

The ceremony took place on 3rd June and united residents, families, and staff to honour the Queen’s reign and paid homage to ‘The Queen’s Green Canopy’ initiative which encourages communities to plant trees to create a lasting environmental legacy.

The home held a Jubilee luncheon in which residents were served fish and chips from a local chip shop before excited residents, families and staff congregated outside later in the afternoon. Residents at the home, many of whom are keen Royalists, watched as resident Nancy and her daughter planted the tree before unveiling a ‘Queen’s Green Canopy’ plaque to commemorate the happy occasion. The home later held a buffet and served wine in the lounge for residents and their families.

Nina McPhee, the Home Manager, said:
“Residents were so excited for the tree planting ceremony, especially after choosing the tree from a local garden centre earlier in the week. Each resident carefully painted stones to place around the tree making them all feel a valued part of the ceremony. It has been fantastic to bring together residents and their families and a great talking point amongst our residents. We at Roden are honoured to plant a tree in tribute to the Queen and look forward to watching it grow in the grounds as we remember this happy day long into the future.”
