Residential Care in Worcestershire

Rotherwood Healthcare provides residential care at Dorset House in Droitwich, Worcestershire. Residents have support available 24 hours a day, including help with washing, dressing, mobility and managing medication when needed.

That support doesn't mean giving up independence. Residents can continue making their own choices, following familiar routines and doing as much for themselves as possible. There are also opportunities to spend time with others and take part in activities and everyday life around the home.

For families, knowing someone is there day and night can provide valuable reassurance. For residents, it means having the right help when they need it, while continuing to live life in their own way.

Residential Care in Worcestershire from Rotherwood Healthcare

Residential care at Dorset House provides support throughout the day and night, while helping residents maintain their independence. For someone living alone, getting help at home may mean relying on family or waiting for scheduled visits from carers. At Dorset House, support is available when it is needed, whether that is help getting dressed, managing medication or moving around safely.

Daily life can also become more sociable. Residents can spend time with others over meals, join activities or enjoy shared spaces. They can equally choose some quiet time or continue with their own interests and routines.

Our team gets to know how each resident likes to live. The aim is to make everyday life easier without taking over, so residents can continue making their own choices and doing what they can for themselves.

Residential care provides accommodation, meals and personal support for people who would benefit from help with everyday living. That might include washing, dressing, mobility, medication or support at mealtimes. Our Rotherwood Healthcare team members are available throughout the day and night.

There are many reasons someone might consider residential care. Personal care may have become more difficult, or cooking, cleaning and maintaining a home may require more effort. Someone may also want the reassurance of having support nearby or more opportunities to spend time with other people.

Unlike nursing care, residential care is generally suitable for people who do not require regular clinical care from a registered nurse. If memory loss or dementia is the main reason for needing support, dementia care may be more appropriate.

The decision to consider residential care can happen gradually or follow a particular change. Everyday tasks may have become harder to manage, or a fall, illness or hospital stay may mean more support is needed.

A short stay can also provide additional support following a hospital stay or give someone the opportunity to experience life in a care home before considering a longer-term move.

Our team can assess your loved one’s needs and help you decide which type of care would suit them best.

There isn't always one obvious moment when someone needs residential care. Often, it is a combination of small changes that makes additional support worth considering. Your parent may be finding washing, dressing or taking medication more difficult. Mobility may have changed, or for others, a fall, illness or hospital stay can lead to a more immediate need for support.

Living alone can also become less enjoyable. Someone who once had a busy social life may now have fewer opportunities to see other people. Residential care provides companionship and activities alongside practical help, while still giving residents the choice to spend time on their own.

Residential care can also provide reassurance when support from family or scheduled care visits is no longer enough. With help available throughout the day and night, residents don't have to wait for their next visit if they need assistance. The right level of care will be different for everyone. Our team can assess your loved one's needs and help you decide which type of care would suit them best.

Life at Rotherwood’s Dorset House Care Home

At Dorset House, we want residents to feel comfortable making the home their own. Our 42 single bedrooms can be personalised with residents’ own furniture, photographs and belongings, helping familiar things remain part of everyday life.

Our home is a former country residence set within private grounds in Droitwich Spa. Residents can enjoy landscaped gardens, shaded seating and a summer house, whether they want some quiet time or company outdoors. There are plenty of opportunities to spend time with others, but how residents choose to fill their day is always personal. Our activities are shaped around individual hobbies and interests rather than expecting everyone to enjoy the same things.

Our Lifestyle Coordinator, Lisa, has been part of Dorset House since 1999. Her role is about much more than organising activities. She gets to know residents and what matters to them, helping them continue familiar interests and enjoy new experiences if they choose.

That individual approach is reflected in feedback from families. In one of our reviews, one daughter explained that her father was treated as an individual. He could continue with his favourite outdoor routines after moving to Dorset House.
