The event featured a full carpark of classic cars from the Hereford Austin Vintage Car Club, which evoked nostalgia for residents, many of whom are living with Dementia yet able to recall which cars had been owned by themselves or their loved ones. Residents and guests were greeted with a picnic bag ahead of the teddy bears picnic in the dining room which housed an impressive cake baked by the Kitchen Team. Lyonshall Nursery donated plants to be placed inside the home to help create the feeling of an outdoor picnic. Residents and guests were entertained by singer, Eddie Graham, before taking part in the lucky dip and tombola, and purchasing plants potted by residents at the Lynhales Hall Gardening Club.
Nick Brown, Interim Home Manager for Lynhales Hall, said:
“Silver Sunday was a great opportunity to unite residents, families and communities! Our residents had a marvellous time, and they especially loved the classic cars which had them reminiscing of earlier life! We hope to get the cars back at Lynhales for our Summer Fete!”
